Usage:

Copy-paste the code above and use it in templates to generate an equal-sign without breaking the template output. Will not work in URLs.
Note: Using this template is not necessary if you explicitly state which parameter you are editing, e.g. if you state {{template|param1text|2=param2text}}, param2text can include as many equals as you wish, including in URLs.
