These files are used to provide details about multiplayer maps. They are employed in two circumstances;- 
 
- within a MMX or YRO file to provide information about the enclosed map file 
- as a standard file (by default MISSIONS.PKT or MISSIONSMD.PKT) to control all of the standard multiplayer maps 
 
NOTE: Although you can add more MAP format multiplayer maps to Red Alert 2 by editing the standard MISSIONS.PKT file, it should be noted that you should not edit the MISSIONSMD.PKT file in Yuri's Revenge - for some unexplained reason, addition of new maps through this file appears to 'duplicate' the information and can cause occasional Internal Errors, particularly if your edited file replicates anything contained in the original one. However, you can create a new PKT file (any name will do) with a different name and use this to append any additional maps to Yuri's Revenge by placing it directly in the same directory (it will not be read from a MIX file). 
 
However you plan to use them, the structure and format of PKT files remains the same. Each file consists of one section, [MultiMaps], which lists each map that the file will define. The list should be numbered sequentially starting from '1' and each entry in the list should indicate one map by using that maps filename (without the .MAP extension). 
 
In turn, each map listed should have it's own section defined, with each section providing the following details;-
